Democrats Not Liking the New Census

"Within the first few hours after the Commerce Department announced there would be a citizenship question on the next census, California filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration claiming that the question was illegal and unconstitutional. While California’s objection to the question was not surprising, it was a bit surprising to see what happened next.
12 more states said they will join New York State attorney general Eric Schneiderman in a multistate lawsuit against the Trump administration. Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Massachusetts were among those who signaled that they will join the effort. The effort to avoid having to let the country know how many illegal immigrants are ACTUALLY in the country.
Boy, these Democrats are really scared of this accounting.
“The census is supposed to count everyone,” said Attorney General Maura Healey of Massachusetts. “This is a blatant and illegal attempt by the Trump administration to undermine that goal, which will result in an undercount of the population and threaten federal funding for our state and cities.”
This is the legal argument they’re using to challenge the administration. It is nonsense, of course, seeing as how adding this question does noting to reduce the count. In theory? Perhaps. In intent? Why would the Trump administration deliberately set out to devise a census that wouldn’t do what it’s supposed to do? In practice? That remains to be seen.
But the truth is, whether illegal immigrants all take the census or all DON’T take the census, we’ll have a much better idea of how many there are in this country. That’s worth something right there. That is information the federal government is entitled to, is it not?
Oh, sorry, we forgot we’re now in the age where we’re not even supposed to talk about illegal immigrants as if they’re a different class of American. They’re just citizens without paperwork, right right.
We’re certain that Democrats are scared about an under-count, though. They don’t want to suddenly lose out on millions in federal grants because half their city’s population vanished since the last census. Well, frankly, it would serve these cities right. Create a welcome haven for illegal immigrants…YOU find a way to pay for them all. Don’t come crying to Washington. Your tab has come due.
But we still think that what they’re REALLY afraid of is having the country realize that there are many more illegal immigrants living here than previously imagined. Once the average citizen hears the real number, the tide may turn in a big way towards Trump’s immigration policies. Best to sweep these numbers under the carpet. Don’t want the citizenry to suddenly WAKE UP." restoreamericanglory.com
