What My Daughter Has To Say!

"There is so much focus right now on girls being strong and being anything they want to be. While that is absolutely fantastic and I'm behind that movement 110%, it seems boys are hearing more and more than they shouldn't be who God made them to be. I feel like boys are being asked to fight against their very nature. Boys are rough and tumble and were created that way for a reason.

Boys need permission to be boys. And they need a Father to show them how to be the best BOY they can be. They need wonderful role models to tell them and show how important and life changing a male figure can be to his family, work and society. The skill that boys bring to the table is a whole different ball game than what girls bring to the table.

We balance each other out. Just as God intended. What an amazing gift! Watching kids on the playground, I just shake my head "that was such a boy thing to do" or "that was such a girl thing to do". Neither is right and neither is wrong. Just different. Boys need that father figure to lead them and they need to be able to be boys and not put into a gender neutral box. Being a good man is a tough job and in society today I think they get a bum wrap. "Men are the enemy" kind of logic. There are so many great men in this world it is shameful that they are so easily put down and criticized.

And, yes, unfortunately, the boys (and girls!) that need the father figure the most don't have it and that is heart breaking. It gets passed down from generation to generation and that is why we have so many problems in our society today. That, along with, leaving God out of every aspect of life besides church on Sundays."
